METROPOLIS SUMMER SALON
METROPOLIS Gallery at 64 Ryrie St, Geelong, is kicking off 2018 with a beautiful new summer exhibition, Summer Salon. This exhibition is on until January 29, celebrating the season with a wonderful suite of atmospheric coastal paintings by artist Stella Clarke. Other art on display includes etchings, sculpture and art glass.
LOOK WHAT WE’VE DONE
THE Art Studio artists’ end-of-year show at Rachinger Gallery showcased their newest creations. Works on display include abstractions, strange creatures, cityscapes and portraits. The exhibition at Rachinger Gallery, Eastern Community Hub, 285a McKillop St, East Geelong, runs until January 23.

A DIVERSE selection of paintings and works on paper reflects Geelong Gallery’s active acquisition program and the generosity of a range of valued donors. Includes works by Benjamin Armstrong, Brent Harris, Gloria Petyarre, Rosslynd Piggott and Robert Rooney. On show until February 25 at the Geelong Gallery in Lt Malop St.
SUMMER SCULPTURE
GEELONG Sculptures has put together a threedimensional exhibition at the Surf Coast Art Space. You’ll find all kinds of creatures created from a variety of different mediums, including ceramic, metalwork, timber, stone, glass, mosaic, found options, natural fibres, precious metals and more. The exhibition is open daily from 10am-5pm.
VARIED AND CURIOUS
DEAKIN University is hosting an original exhibition featuring the works of Irish botanist William Harvey, who studied native seaweed during the 1850s. The exhibition will have some of his original albums of dried seaweed. It will also feature the photography of Donna Squire, who works closely with Deakin’s seaweed researchers. The exhibition runs until January 25 at the Alfred Deakin Prime Ministerial Library, Deakin Waterfront Campus.
QUEENSCLIFF OPEN HOUSE
ARTISTS Ryan Brearley and Wendy Naylor are again having their Open Studio event at the Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House’s House Gallery. The show covers many different mediums — painting, drawing and printmaking — and creates an eclectic and dynamic show. The exhibition is open Wednesday to Monday, 11am-4pm.
