Golf a driving force behind cancer charity event

- DAMIEN RACTLIFFE

GOLF will again play its part to help find a cure for cancer, this year holding its Celebrity Chef Dinner for Challenge at GMHBA Stadium.

On Friday, February 2, following the second round of the Oates Vic Open, the President’s Room will host world-class chefs Ian Curley, Scott Pickett, Todd Moses and Alex Xinis to deliver a memorable dining experience.

And it’s all in the name of Challenge, the not-for-profit organisation supporting kids with cancer.

“Golf is a very important element of Challenge as our international patron, Robert Allenby, has supported the organisation for over 25 years,” Challenge chief executive David Rogers said.

“Ambassador Jarrod Lyle knows all about Challenge as he was first introduced to us as a young man, early in his cancer journey.

“Jarrod is currently dealing with a third bout of cancer and it brings home why the relationship between our two organisations is so important — so we can support young children like we did with Jarrod.”

Golf Victoria chief executive Simon Brookhouse said he was looking forward to supporting Challenge for a fifth straight year.

“Challenge has such a special place in the Victorian golfing community’s heart,” Brookhouse said.

“Through the Charity Dinner on Friday, February 2, we can make a difference to not only the kids suffering from cancer but their families too.

“I highly encourage anyone that might be able to make it on the night to please get behind this event. All proceeds of the evening will go straight to Challenge, supporting kids with cancer.”

Tickets prices start at $160 and are now available at:
