Addict linked to ex-coach’s home faces Geelong court
A 22-YEAR-OLD woman linked to a drug raid on the home of Mark ‘Bomber’ Thompson faced court in Geelong over drug dealing, weapons and dishonesty charges yesterday.
Katia Drcec, who was allegedly found with a semiautomatic handgun at her Mill Park home, was apprehended by police on January 4 in a Mercedes being driven by Karl ‘Bang Bang’ Holt.
The pair are linked with a man who was living at Thompson’s Port Melbourne home when police busted down its door.
A 22-YEAR-OLD woman linked to a drug raid on the home of Mark “Bomber” Thompson will remain in jail after being refused bail.
Katia Drcec was allegedly found with a semiautomatic pistol at her Mill Park home.
She was apprehended by police on January 4 in a Mercedes-Benz sporting the numberplate “ONBA1L” and being driven by Karl “Bang Bang” Holt.
The pair are believed to be in business with a man who was living at Thompson’s Port Melbourne home when police broke down its door.
Police prosecutor Sen-Constable Jacki Davis told the Geelong Magistrates’ Court a search of the Mercedes-Benz turned up $2380 in cash, more than 100g of methamphetamine, an ice pipe and drug-dealing paraphernalia.
A raid on their Mill Park address was conducted just days before police smashed their way into Thompson’s Port Melbourne property.
A handgun was allegedly found along with bags of meth, a $15,000 bike, more cash and more drug-dealing equipment.
Altogether, police believe they netted about $30,000 in ill-gotten cash and 336g of meth.
Representing herself, Ms Drcec — a drug addict — said she had been sober for 18 days and needed to be released to look after her sick mother, who was in court.
But Sgt Naomi Bourke told the court Ms Drcec’s mother was kept in squalor and lived among filth in the lounge.
She claimed the older woman was restricted from moving around the house and needed to ring a bell if she went outside to the garage, where the handgun was allegedly found.
The court heard her mother signed a statement that she was a “prisoner in her own home”.
Ms Drcec, who receives a carer allowance for looking after her, said her mother was a hoarder who had created the filth she lived among.
