TAKING THE P*SS

Court told man urinated in bed of partner’s ex

- RUSTY WOODGER

A MAN who urinated in a bed belonging to his partner’s ex later told police he did it to “piss him off”.

Point Cook man Gary McSweeney, 30, was fined $1000 in Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday after pleading guilty to intentionally damaging property.

McSweeney had entered the Corio home on September 13 with a set of keys — provided by his partner — while it was empty.

Although he was only there to collect the woman’s belongings, McSweeney entered a master bedroom, unzipped his pants and urinated on bedsheets and pillows.

He then turned his attention to a soccer jersey hanging on a wall, urinating on the shirt before placing it back on the wall.

McSweeney later told police he hoped the victim wouldn’t notice the urine in the bed until they jumped in.

In court, an embarrassed McSweeney said his actions were due to a dispute over child support payments.

“It wasn’t my finest hour,” he said.

The court heard McSweeney had a lengthy criminal record, including multiple convictions for making threats to kill and one for inflicting serious injury.

He told magistrate Ann McGarvie the offending happened while he was unemployed and using drugs, and said he now had a full-time job and had “mellowed down” since becoming a stepfather.

Ms McGarvie said McSweeney should have contacted the relevant department if there was an issue with child support.

“What you did was a pretty disgusting thing,” she said.

“You aren’t Superman. You aren’t entitled to take justice into your own hands.”
