Setting the pace in flawless footwear

Miraculously, the business has remained in the exact same spot in the shopping centre.

“We were ready for a change and the idea of this was to bring it into 2018,” Belinda said.

“We’ve always had this long, very loyal customer base, who started shopping here 20 years ago when they were younger.

“A lot of people don’t survive as long as we have, particularly in the same spot, a lot of businesses are changing and moving, downsizing and upscaling.

“There’s been so many businesses which have come and gone in the 22 years we have had the store, but we’ve remained in the same spot.”

Late January is one of the busiest times of the year for the store with the back to school rush in full swing.

This year’s hottest buys for girls are the Ascent Adela, Harrison Indiana and Clarks Ingrid. For boys the Ascent Apex, Ascent Sustain and Ascent Scholar are proving most popular.

Belinda says there are a number of key things to remember when fitting school shoes.

“There should be roughly an adult thumb width of room between the end of the longest toe and the front of the shoe,” Belinda said.

“Flexibility under the ball of the foot to allow your child’s toes to bend, which in turn allows them to skip, jump and run.

“A firm heel counter increases your child’s stability and reduces the risk of sprained ankles.”

She also said a removable insole is important for children who wear orthotics.

“Always bring the orthotics into store so staff can use them during the fitting process.”
