Harris offered ban for strike
CARLTON’S AFLW campaign has suffered another setback, with star forward Tayla Harris offered a one-match ban for striking.
The former Brisbane Lion fell foul of AFL match review officer Michael Christian after she landed a punch on former teammate Leah Kaslar during the Blues’ 22-point loss at Ikon Park.
The incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head. Harris risks a two-match penalty if she takes her case to the tribunal.
Carlton’s first loss of the season came a week after star skipper Brianna Davey suffered a season-ending knee in- jury. Harris will miss Friday night’s clash against the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval if she accepts the finding.
Collingwood’s Sophie Casey and Adelaide’s Dayna Cox were also handed onematch bans. Casey was charged with striking Greater Western Sydney’s Cora Staunton after her raised elbow left her opponent with a suspected broken nose. Cox was charged with striking Emma Kearney during the Crows’ breakthrough win at Norwood Oval.
Cox can also accept a reprimand for striking Ellie Blackburn, with teammate Jenna McCormick, Fremantle’s Kara Donnellan and Ashlee Atkins and Carlton’s Katie Loynes also offered reprimands.
Christian found no reportable offences from the three nights of AFLX action.
