BOWLING

B. Greenwood (Marshall) 6-87 A. Webb (Newcomb & Dist.) 6-90 Z. Smith (Highton) 4-65 BELL Post Hill has enjoyed some batting practice ahead of finals, amassing 221 against Highton. Ryan Mills (44), Matthew Reid (32) and Chris McIlvenny (46) all got starts, as Zac Smith (4-65) and Alistair Ross (352) shared in the spoils for the Heat, who now need a miracle to make finals. Highton will begin its batting innings this Saturday. ST PETER’S has once again showed it can mix it with the finals teams, compiling an impressive 253 at home to Marshall. Billy Ford and Steve Illingworth each constructed knocks of 57 before Shane Fowles added a solid 46 in the middle order before being one of Brad Greenwood’s (6-87) six victims. BELL PARK will eye a rare outright victory batting first when play resumes against the Dinos on Saturday. With 9-248 on the board from 53 overs, the Dragons sent the home side in, reducing it to 7-106 at stumps. Three quick wickets will allow the Dragons to enforce the follow on, but if the Dinos can get to 148, the visitors will be forced to bat again, declare and bowl again to achieve maximum points. Bell Park needs Bell Post Hill to lose to win the minor premiership. Jarrod Andrews made 67 for the Dragons, while bowling all-rounder Kell Craven justified his promotion from the seconds with a half-century.
