Karl: She needs to step up
KARL Stefanovic thinks his Today co-host Georgie Gardner is a fence sitter, has no strong opinions and he feels she needs to step up.
Details of the now infamous conversation between younger brother Peter and Karl during an intoxicated late-night Uber ride can now been revealed.
An insider at New Idea — the magazine which will publish the full account from the Uber driver in today’s edition — said Karl spoke about being fed up with Gardener’s hosting style. “He (Karl) said she (Georgie) is wishy-washy, and doesn’t have a real opinion on anything,” the source revealed.
“He described her as a fence sitter, that she needs to step up and she is playing it safe.
“Karl even goes on to say that he wants to talk to his bosses about the issue. He thinks that she needs to get serious or get out.”
It can also be revealed Peter Stefanovic’s wife Sylvia Jef- freys is complicit in the scandal. The Today newsreader was also in the car during this explosive and damaging conversation.
“As far as the Uber driver’s account goes, Sylvia was present for the conversation but stayed quiet,” the source said.
During the conversation, the boys speak about “friend” Richard Wilkins, the breakfast show’s entertainment reporter.
“They say that Dickie is overly protective on his patch and his sources and that the will not share any of the entertainment interviews,” the insider said.
During the lengthy chat Peter complains about his role at the network, suggesting he is above reporting three days a week.
Karl is expected to return to Today this morning for the first time since news of the tapes broke. Channel 9 yesterday confirmed that Gardner will also be on today’s episode of the show.
