Nine-year-old Zach, a fourth-generation karter from East Geelong, and 10year-old Tyce Hodge, from Wandana Heights, are part of a group of about 20 kids from across Victoria who will be standing by racing legends at this weekend’s grand prix in Melbourne. Junior competi- tors in karting or formulae, selected by their motorsport club based on merit, or by lottery, are given the chance get up close to their idols under the initiative.

Tyce’s father, Scott, said he had never seen his son so excited.

Zach, who has been racing for three years, said he was feeling “excited”, and was most looking forward to meeting Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton.

His father, Andrew, said Zach would be waving flags for the Formula One drivers in the grid during the prerace entertainment on Sunday, and be given the chance to visit the pits and chat with drivers.

“It’s a dream come true for Zach, a once in a lifetime opportunity,” Mr Findlay said. AN AUSTRALIAN man has died while surfing off the Indonesian island of Lombok.

Witnesses said Andrew Richard Wiseman, 52, had gone surfing alone at Tanjung Aan beach off Lombok on Sunday morning when he appeared to have drowned.

Lombok Tengah Police chief Kholilur Rochman said that another Australian, who was at the same location, and others had tried to bring Mr Wiseman to the shore by boat.

But attempts to revive him on the beach were unsuccessful.
