JUST CAN’T AGREE WITH KAZ’S LAPBAND OPINIONS

I WAS absolutely disgusted at Karen’s rant re. the suggestion for Government funded lap band surgery for, in her words, fatties.

Gee, talk about fat shaming and bullying.

I was overweight my entire life and let me tell you, my primary school and high school years were not pleasant ones due to name-calling and bullying, simply because I was overweight.

In 2012, I underwent sleeve gas- trectomy and successfully lost 60kg. Deciding on surgery was an absolute last resort for me after I failed many diets in the past. I did not gorge myself on Big Macs etc, which obviously is what all fat people do, right, Karen?

It’s always the solution of those who have never had a weight problem to simply eat more fruit/vegetables/salads and exercise more. Yes, for some people this may work but it doesn’t work for everyone, me included. Not everyone becomes overweight due to overeating. There’s also medical conditions and medications that can cause weight gain.

Maybe next time you decide to open your mouth and have a go at those with a weight problem, maybe actually do some research into the procedure and talk to people who have had the surgery to see how it has changed their lives for the better or the surgeons who have assisted them in their lives changing.
