MEGHAN’S PRICEY ROYAL WARDROBE

- — NADIA SALEMME

IT COSTS a lot to look this royal.

Meghan Markle, who broke protocol by wearing a “messy” bun, seems to only wear designer stilettos, and has a coat for every occasion.

Royal-to-be Meghan, 36, has become hugely influential on the style scene — and has the designer wardrobe to prove it. Much like her soonto-be sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge, what she wears sells out — it’s been dubbed the “Meghan effect”.

But who is paying for her pricey royal wardrobe?

It’s not like the former Suits star — who is said to be worth $7 million — is on a budget.

Last week, Meghan wore a Mackage coat, Victoria Beckham knit, a Greta Constantine skirt and a pair of Jimmy Choo heels, teamed with a bag by Charlotte Elizabeth, on a visit to Belfast.

The final bill? More than $3302. And that’s not even the most pricey ensemble.

Meghan sported an Amanda Wakeley coat ($1642) and dress ($908) to attend her first official engagement with the Queen earlier this month — a service at Westminster Abbey. She teamed the regal look with a Mulberry bag ($1009), Manolo Blahnik heels ($1147) and custom-made Stephen Jones hat, the price of which was not released. All up? It was a $4706 outfit.

Despite close relationships with designers such as Victoria Beckham and the Alexander McQueen team, the royals aren’t allowed to accept gifts and have to pay for their own clothing from their stipend.

Vogue reports Meghan is currently paying for her own very expensive outfits because she is not yet officially a member of the royal family.

And she may even be bankrolling the cost of her own wedding dress, which has a rumoured price tag of $400,000. Now that dress will surely be Meghan’s most expensive outfit yet.
