RECORD JAN JUC SALE

- TESSA HAYWA HAYWARD

A STUNNING Zarinan Gurrie-designed house in Jan Juc has taken the title of most expensive in the seaside village after selling for more than $4 million.

Several other multi-million dollar sales have also been recorded along the coast in the past two weeks.

The elevated property at 8 Rip View Close, Jan Juc sold in the vicinity of the $4.25 million asking price.

Previously the record in Jan Juc was $3.925 million for 15 Broadbeach Rd in 2015, according to CoreLogic data.

Great Ocean Properties, Aireys Inlet agent Marty Maher said this was the first sale above $4 million in Jan Juc.

“The buyers are local and they will be using it as their permanent home,” Mr Maher said.

He said to get privacy and a really big view on the coast was really challenging but this had both in spades.

“The whole recipe of the property really works, all the ingredients are there,” he said.

The house has spectacular views across Jan Juc and was substantially rebuilt in 2009 and now has four bedrooms, two living areas and an enclosed outdoor entertainment room.

Two big $3 million-plus sales have also been recorded in Barwon Heads.

It took just six days for the sprawling Auhaus Architecture-designed house at 121-125 Sheepwash Rd to sell for an undisclosed price more than $3 million.

Bellarine Property, Barwon Heads agent Levi Turner was quoting $3 million-plus for the four-bedroom house that has a stunning kitchen with copper splashback and a parents’ retreat with imported copper bathtub from Mexico.

It sold to Melbourne buyers that plan to relocate.

Former Hawthorn Football Club president Andrew Newbold and wife Sarah have also sold their holiday house at 9-11 George St, Barwon Heads for an undisclosed price.

Bellarine Property, Barwon Heads agent Peta Walter said an expressions of interest campaign was about to be launched for the property with price hopes of $3.2 million to $3.3 million but a young Melbourne family jumped in and made an offer the Newbold’s couldn’t resist.
