A saucy cookbook to swear by

A TORQUAY mum and nurse is spicing things up with a naughty but nice take on cooking.

Shannon Kelly White selfpublished her cookbook, Shannon’s Kitchen: Healthy Food You’ll Actually F**cking Eat, in November last year.

The book, which is full of swearing and genitalia jokes, sold out in a week and is now getting re-released by Penguin Random House on April 2.

The saucy read is based on Ms White’s popular food blog, Shannon’s Kitchen, which has been running since 2014.

The creation of nutritious recipes started after changing her eating habits helped her get pregnant with her two sons, Jack, 5, and Herbie, 2.

“The blog was started for me and my friends and family — it wasn’t intended to exit my circle,” she said.

“Embracing my loose and silly side felt right because I find the healthy-eating world a little too perfect, sometimes even pretentious.

“Mixing naughty words and funny anecdotes with healthy food felt so wrong it was right. I’ve never felt a need to censor it.”

The recipes are full of flavour, and Ms White has even created her own system to let you know which recipes require that little extra effort with her “f--ks given” ratings.
