NUCHEV PROTEST IS MORE THAN BANNER WAVING

TO the author of the article regarding his/her concern over CoGG decision to lodge an objection with VCAT, perhaps you should try and understand the ramifications of Nuchev’s proposal before making these types of comments.

It is obvious that you have no idea how much work Lara Admin and residents put into convincing the council. We just didn’t wave banners as you suggest.

Do you have any idea of the size of the factory and goat shed or how close it is to a new estate and school?

If you took the time to talk to us you would understand our concerns and the reasons that council voted the way you did. So please don’t make these accusations without understanding the background to this decision.

A 10-STOREY FACTORY ISN’T JUST A SIMPLE GOAT FARM

WOW people have always complained that the papers never let the truth get in the way of a good story but after being involved in the Nuchev planning permit protests I am truly amazed at the lack of fact-checking or care to tell an unbiased story.

The perpetual description of a 10storey high intensive factory as a simple ‘goat farm’ is just infuriating and this recent article shows such a lack of understanding or fact checking that it’s truly laughable.

GOLDEN PLAINS SITE WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE

HATS off to you Geelong Advertiser for being an ‘unbiased’ publication. As reporters, I applaud your tenacity in documenting all of the facts in regards to the Lara goat factory. How dare the councillors listen to and side with their constituents, they may need that extra $60,000 to go towards the meagre $100 million allocated for their new office building.

In case you missed the sarcasm ... think for yourself and do your own research into Nuchev. An appropriate site was put forward in Golden Plains, but that’s the postcode of the Dingles and they didn’t want this on their doorstep, so why should Lara?

I applaud our councillors for doing what they know is right and VCAT will too.

POLLIES’ OUTRAGE OVER CRICKET SCANDAL IS IRONIC

I FIND the outrage of any politician regarding the ball tampering by Australia cricketers to be quite ironic.

How much integrity do our politicians have? Just asking.

JUMPER PUNCHING SENDS POOR MESSAGE TO YOUNG

WHILE our attention is focused on the ‘moral compass’ of our cricketers, we should also look at the behaviour of our footballers. Jumper punching and displays of aggression are just pathetic considering all the cameras that are available. While this grandstanding might make individuals feel good, it gives a poor message to all the young footballers, who idolise their heroes and try to emulate them.

TEXT TALK

SICK of reading that Lara residents are up in arms re the proposed goat farm. This is a huge generalisation. I suspect that most of the protesters are relative newcomers to the area. Why did they choose to move to a rural environment? The fear of an outbreak of Q fever seems to be a real furphy.
