Big hug for town’s trees

An avenue of trees lining Inverleigh’s main street faces the axe amid fears the trees pose a safety risk to motorists and pedestrians.

They are stunning trees. Nicole Lee Big massive winds here, not one of those trees dropped a limb. Sim O Ne

I hope they do it properly and not just slash everything! Can’t get them to do a fire burn but they want to chop down the trees that give Inverleigh its character. Robyn Kerdel No, no. It’s such a beautiful part of Inverleigh. Check them by all means but do not destroy them. Or does council have other plans for that stretch of the road. Weren’t they planted originally to honour fallen soldiers. Hilary Gardner Bulldust, just prune them unless they are dead. John Richardson “Kept informed “by Golden Plains usually means no proper consultation with residents and ratepayers. Time that changed for the betterment of Inverleigh and good governance. John Bolitho

Probably replace them with wire barriers. How about we just watch where we are walking/driving and keep the trees. Tracey Simic

Must keep the trees. David Peel

Nooo. Roz McKean

Leave the trees there. Ridiculous. Lyn Blackney

Would love to see actual evidence of falling limbs and risk to people. Destroying these trees will destroy the streetscape and character of this lovely town. How about Golden Plains Shire uses ratepayers dollars to install proper drainage and kerbing through the town instead? Address an actual need, rather than imposing more “nanny state” nonsense on the community. Carolyn Woods

Well they need to go, every week one is falling. Mick Moore

I like them. Matt Cain
