Barba in Geelong hot seat

-

GEELONG has worked fast to replace coach Kristian Bright, appointing Domenic Barba in time for tomorrow’s clash with Hoppers Crossing.

Bright stepped down earlier in the week due to increased work commitments.

Barba takes control of a squad rich in talent and a club that has ambitions to play in the NPL next season.

He brings a wealth of experience and success after stints with Bulleen, Moreland Zebras and Port Melbourne Sharks.

He led Bulleen and Moreland during their promotion campaigns.

Bright’s work takes him overseas and interstate.

“I’m proud to say that last year we had the club’s highest finish in its history, but disappointed we could not continue and achieve the ultimate success in what is the club’s 60th year,” he said.

“I believe the club’s future is strong and they have been putting the correct measures in place on and off the pitch to ensure a long and successful future.

“I would like to thank the board for having the confidence in me and the fans of Geelong Soccer Club for all their support and all the volunteers and coaches for their many, many hours of work throughout my tenure.

“I would like to thank the players for their respect, professionalism, and unquestioned commitment week in, week out.”
