A POWER-FUL VICTORY

-

IT WAS the result that had everyone talking. Given virtually no chance of winning, Newcomb caused the biggest boilover of season, downing Drysdale in stunning style. And it drew high praise from a rival coach, who was thrilled for the Power. “It’s great for the competition,” Geelong Amateur cocoach Jarrod Young said. “Rory Nicol and Damian Mahoney are doing a great job out there. It’s reward for effort and I think everyone around local footy thought it was well deserved. By the looks of things, they are really starting to turn the corner.” It was Newcomb’s first win since Round 11, 2017, when it defeated Portarlington by 16 points. The Power faces a difficult fortnight now, however, meeting Ocean Grove and Geelong Amateur.
