Vintage fashion always stylish

-

COLD and wet weather failed to deter dozens of vintage fashion lovers from descending on the latest Frock Up Geelong event on Saturday.

Dozens of people braved the winterlike conditions to check out a range of fashion items spanning eras from the 18th century to the 1990s.

The event, which has been running since 2012, was held at the Sparrow Park Band Hall in Geelong West.

Organiser Keith Baverstock said although interest in vintage clothing had waned in recent years, a group of “stalwarts” kept traders busy.

“Those that came are really interested in vintage and some stayed for a couple of hours,” he said.

“We were happy, and all those people seemed to leave with a bag or a few bags of stuff.

“So despite the weather, it was successful.”

Among the items on offer were 18inch waisted Victorian gowns, exotic millinery, micro mini dresses, jewellery and books.

The Frock Up Geelong event, also featuring art and ephemera for the fashionista, is held twice a year.
