- HARRISON TIPPET

THE Geelong Cats may be the friendliest footy club in the AFL, with the Cattery launching an initiative to welcome visiting teams. While some AFL clubs pride themselves on building an intimidating home ground advantage, the friendly felines will post a welcome collage for visiting teams at each home game this year. The Kardinia Park Stadium Trust’s Kids Huddle project will see a Geelong primary school chosen to create encouraging welcome posters for the opposition at each home game, gam to be displayed as a collage col near the players’ race. Just hours before the Swans Sw ran over the top of the Cats Cat in the final quarter at GMHBA GM Stadium, the Sydney club’s clu social media team posted pos a picture of a smiling Gary Ga Rohan in front of the message m board. “Great initiative by @kardinia_park @ Stadium Trust T to have local school kids from South Geelong Primary School do this message me board for our visit!” the post read. The Kardinia Park Stadium TrustTru announced the project in tthe days before the Round 6 cclash between the Cats and the Swans. “It’s our vision to be Australia’sAu best regional stadiumsta and we can’t do that alone. The Kids Huddle is a feel-good initiative that brings with it a lot of fun for the primary students as well as us,” Trust community engagement co-ordinator Kirsten Blake said. “We saw a great opportunity to get local kids involved in game days and to help them feel a part of something bigger.” In Round 4 Holy Family Primary School in Bell Park created the welcome wall for the visiting Saints.
