SELF-PROMOTION A SURE SIGN ELECTION IS COMING

-

LABOUR has clearly started campaigning in Geelong — Luke Donnellan pictured inspecting roadworks and an advert telling us how much has been spent on Geelong roads.

Our money telling us that our money has been spent — why? Oh, another waste of funds. It achieves absolutely nothing for our Geelong community.

These two politically-motivated self-promotions, the equivalent of fake news and deceptive and misleading advertising are not based upon the actual roads we drive on daily.

A recent drive inland to Lorne and around Inverleigh, Batesford, Shelford, Bannockburn etc exposed to me a speed-limited litany of rough, dete- riorated roads that are worse than 30 years ago.

The State Government has spent billions on Melbourne and a pittance on rural Victorian roads.

The TAC and VicRoads advertise “up to” 90 per cent effectiveness of wire rope barriers in full page adverts that achieve what? Self promotion? Justification of spending?

Or are we too dumb to see the barriers being built and know what they are for?

Sounds like one of those sales that when you get there 99 per cent of goods are 2 per cent off.

What are the real statistics? We must demand that this type of deceptive and misleading promotion does not shape the spending in our society.

Front up to the media, VicRoads and TAC, and tell us exactly what the statistics are before we squander billions more of our money. Ross Kroger, Highton
