Carrie warms to fight on cancer

-

FANS of Geelong Cats recent debutant were left hunting for merchandise at a recent home game after his proud parents bought out his individual player badge at the souvenir stand inside the ground at the city end and in the Cats Shop. POPULAR television personality Carrie Bickmore was in Geelong this week, visiting a local partner in her Beanies 4 Brain Cancer campaign.

The Project presenter dropped into Cotton On’s North Geelong head office and Lara distribution centre on Thursday to meet the staff helping bring her beanies to life.

Cotton On Group chief financial officer Michael Hardwick said the company was “incredibly proud” to partner with the project as the exclusive retailer.

“The partnership with CB4BC brings the Cotton On Group’s purpose to life; to make a positive difference to people’s lives within the communities we operate,” Mr Hardwick said.

“We are excited to bring our business expertise and reach to benefit CB4BC and the cause that it highlights.”

Brain cancer kills more people under the age of 40 than any other cancer and more children in this country than any other disease.

Bickmore’s charity was born from her moving Gold Logie acceptance speech at the TV Week Logie awards in May 2015, which she dedicated to her late husband Greg who died five years earlier at 34 after a 10-year battle with brain cancer.

Since then, CB4BC has raised $4.5 million for brain cancer research. The goal this year is to raise a further $5 million.
