GEELONG kept its unbeaten VFLW record intact with a clinical win over a goalless Williamstown away from home yesterday.

The Cats slammed 8.9 (57) to 0.4 (4) in windy conditions at Burbank Oval, with AFL star Richelle Cranston prolific for the visitors.

“She went head-to-head with Jess Duffin in the first half, did a great job, and then we released her a little bit after half-time and she was instrumental in us scoring in the second half,” coach Paul Hood said.

“To come to Williamstown and win is always difficult with the blustery conditions and the unique nature of the ground, so we’re really pleased to get the four points.

“I think it was a really even performance; the defenders were instrumental in us being able to attack and move the ball off the line, and the forwards did a great job of making sure they kept the ball in the contest when we were going into the wind.”

Hood also praised Evelyn Dhamarrandji, who kicked two goals.

“Evelyn got the first one and then the first one after half-time, so both times we needed a spark in the game she was there and all the girls were really excited to see her do well,” he said.

Hood said his side’s ability to follow instructions and execute was most pleasing.

“They worked really hard to get the ball to the right side of the ground and they ran together in numbers to make sure we could run and carry it where we needed,” he said.

The Cats will need to await a medical report on Lara Williams who “copped a nasty knock to the face”, while Madi Janssen suffered concussion.
