Conroy shines as Thomson posts solid win over North Geelong

LAUREN Conroy showed why she is regarded one of the best defenders in the GDFL, taking best on court honours in Thomson’s win over North Geelong.
Errin Lang and Shannyn Leach played the support cast roles to perfection, with Lang’s accurate shooting the difference, as the Tigers welcomed back Chloe Marshall into the defensive circle with great effect.
The third quarter proved decisive, with the Tigers extending their lead on the back of 16 goals to four.
Cody Dixon and Shae Rowbottow worked well in goals and Brittany Chapman was also impressive. BELMONT 41 V WINCHELSEA 64
ELIZA Cole and Kendall Carracher worked well in goals for Winchelsea, with Sarah Todd running through wing attack well to consistently feed the goalers.
Casey Carroll’s experienced head helped settle the Blues in difficult moments while wowing the crowd with her uncanny vision and delivery.

The Devils played three strong quarters of netball, but a massive concentration lapse saw them blow a 10-goal lead at three-quarter time.
Vanessa Finley-McDonald shot 33 goals for the Hawks to be their best player.
Holly Milsome and Liv Krygger worked hard in the midcourt for the Devils to limit circle edge feeds from the Hawks. Eliza Kramer and Kat Biscan stood tall in the defensive circle. BELL POST HILL 28 V ANAKIE 53
ANAKIE came out fighting and took an eight-goal lead into quarter-time.
Bell Post Hill defenders did their best in the ring but Anakie goalers Cassidy Nelson (GA), Jady Brkic (GA) and Nikki Slaven (GS) provided consistent scoring all game.

Werribee Centrals had a hard-fought win over Bannockburn.
In defence, Amanda O’Malley was strong on the rebound while the defensive pressure of Brigitte Ardossi (GD) caused turnover after turnover.
Constant changes were made throughout the game showing Centrals’ depth.
Bannockburn’s standout was Erin Dillon, who took rebound after rebound capitalising on any missed Werribee goals along with several inte- gral intercepts.

GEELONG West’s composure in attack and the second efforts across the court allowed the Giants to capitalise in the last quarter to come away with the win.
Kristie Marsh took three strong offensive rebounds in the last quarter for the Giants, while Brooke Zwart dominated with four intercepts in the last quarter. Marley Primmer was strong all day in the mid court.
