Sorry Tom signs on

While the Cats’ backline has been without Lachie Henderson this season and Harry Taylor for most of it, Stewart said he was enjoying the newlook defence.

“It’s been really good fun — we’re all pretty similar age down there,” he said.

“We’re just trying to learn off each other and jell as a group and try to play as well as we can down there, so it’s been a different experience.

“We’ve got Zach Tuohy and (Mark) Blicavs down there as well, they’re both in the leadership group officially, but I’m trying to develop that part of my game as well.

“Being a bit older, I’ve had leadership roles at my local clubs, so it’s just natural progression for me.”

Draftees Lachie Fogarty and Charlie Constable also signed on until the end of 2021, while Irish wingman Mark O’Connor has penned a oneyear extension.

“Lachie and Charlie have demonstrated early in their careers their strong work ethic and their understanding of the game,” Cats football manager Simon Lloyd said.

“They both constantly seek to learn from their experienced teammates.

“Lachie has shown he can make a significant contribution and Charlie continues to push for AFL selection.

“Mark’s dramatic improvement in his understanding of our code speaks volumes to his work ethic.

“He has taken a proactive ownership of his career, seeking out coaches and teammates to improve his game, week on week Mark has demonstrated the attributes it takes to play at the highest level.

“Tom, Lachie, Charlie and Mark all have an opportunity to grow their game and as a club, we will be better for that in the future.

“Members and supporters should be excited to watch their development.”
