STAND-IN Geelong Falcons coach Luke Daffy was left to lament his side’s inaccuracy as it crashed to a 34-point defeat yesterday.

The Falcons were wayward in front of goal at Dandenong’s Shepley Oval, allowing Gippsland Power to collect a fourth-straight win.

“It was disappointing,” said Daffy, who took the reigns from coach Dan O’Keefe.

“We were really good, but unfortunately we just couldn’t finish in front of goal. Opportunity wise, we just let it slip.

“We managed to get the game on our terms, we were really strong in the contest and we got the ball in our front half with plenty of inside 50s but we couldn’t capitalise with our entries and finishing was a little bit disappointing. We just weren’t able to put the score on the board.”

In a low-scoring game, the Falcons didn’t post their first major until the 17-minute mark of the third term.

“I think we kicked 11 behinds before we kicked our first goal,” Daffy said.

“That was disappointing because we had some gettable shots in the first half. We went into the break at half time with more scoring shots, and we were really happy with the way the game was played, but it was that last quick that we couldn’t execute.”

All of the Falcons’ three goals came in the second half, with Riley Hayden and Sam Torpy (two) booting majors.

“Not being able to execute that final shot at goal made it difficult for us,” Daffy said.

“We managed to trap the footy inside our forward half for a period of time, but as it happens, we missed a few opportunities.”
