CHEERS TO OUR WINNING WINES

- CHAD VAN ESTROP

THREE wineries on the Bellarine are toasting success following the International Cool Climate Wine Show last month.

The taste and flavour of wines from Jack Rabbit Vineyard, Leura Park Estate and Yes said the Seal were awarded a combined 15 gongs at the event on the Mornington Peninsula.

Jack Rabbit’s 2017 pinot grigio and Leura Park’s OM shiraz were awarded gold in their respective categories from an entire field that included more than 600 wines from around the world in 25 classes.

Jack Rabbit Vineyard director Lyndsay Sharp said grapes were hand-picked at many of the wineries that brought their products to the show, and many owners had a passion for exploring how climate, land condition and soil composition can affect wine production.

“Jack Rabbit, Leura Park Estate and Yes said the Seal wines are crafted from premium Bellarine fruit with attention to small batch handling and traditional practices,” Ms Sharp said.

Jack Rabbit’s 2017 sauvignon blanc, 2015 chardonnay, 2016 single vineyard sparkling blanc de blanc, 2016 riesling, 2017 pinot noir, 2017 shiraz and 2017 cabernet shiraz also received awards at the show.

As did Leura Park Estate’s 2017 pinot gris, pinot noir, 2016 shiraz, and Yes said the Seal’s 2017 sauvignon blanc, 2016 shiraz and 2017 shiraz.
