THINK TWICE ABOUT WALKING ALONE AT NIGHT

-

I AGREE totally with what Karen Matthews had to say (GA 23/6).

First of all l agree that everyone has a right to grieve and be angry about what happened to Eurydice Dixon.

I have full sympathy for her friends and her family and all who loved her and knew her. Not only for those who knew her but for those who could relate to the terrible way in which she was brutally raped and murdered and chose to take a stand against violence towards women.

It is every woman’s nightmare, every parents fear for their daughters, and every child’s fear for their parents.

Unfortunately it is not safe to walk down the street in daylight but life has to go on and it is definitely not safe to walk alone at night.

Too often it is not even safe to be in our own homes.

These monsters are all around us, they might be right beside us, they might be related to us. Nobody really knows. I agree with Kaz that it’s not the fault of the police.

They are there to help us as much as they can.

With everything in life, working together can bring change and l was deeply touched at the tributes and the people who turned up with their beautiful candles and hope and pray there was peace and comfort.

Strength is found in numbers, but also using our common sense is to try and think twice about walking in the dark alone. Karyn Rose Baltetsch
