Legendary acts share their world

-

GEELONG’S 2 Worlds Festival returns in October with a line-up brimming with classic and starstudded talent.

Headline acts for the second incarnation of the festival include legendary performers Yothu Yindi and Shane Howard Trio and popular rap star Baker Boy.

Baker Boy and Geelongconnected singer Yirrmal’s Marryuna placed in the top 20 of Triple J’s Hottest 100 last year.

He has since worked with Yothu Yindi to do an updated version of the dance classic Treaty, which features three rap sections and new percussion by Filthy Lucre.

“Treaty makes me think about home and the Yothu Yindi family,” Baker said.

“I feel privileged and honoured to make a pretty cool track, I want to make a difference through my songs as well because that makes a difference for me.

“I think it is important people listen to that song again now.”

The 2 Worlds Festival will also feature Chris Wilson, Darren Percival, Yirrmal and the Miliya wutj and at least another 15 artists, who will perform across four stages.

It will also showcase indigenous and modern art with a theme around the concept of Walking in Two Worlds, workshops, dance demonstrations and multicultural food outlets.

The not-for-profit festival is run by the Marrma Rom Two Worlds Foundation.

It will be held at Fyansford Paper Mills on October 20.
