Kardinia College welcomes new head
KARDINIA International College will welcome its first female principal in 2019.
Catherine Lockhart will head the school from January 1 following the resignation of David Fitzgerald.
Mr Fitzgerald has led the school for three years and is leaving to work in Dubai.
The school’s board chairman, Yoshihisa Katsumata, congratulated him on his tenure and his new position at an education provider in Dubai.
“David leaves us with our congratulations on a job well done and we wish him great success in his new role,” Mr Katsumata said.
Mrs Lockhart is currently deputy head of Woodcroft College in South Australia and previously held leadership roles at Dubai’s Greenfield Community School, Emmaus Catholic College and Sydney’s MLC.
She has experience in the international baccalaureate programs and the Council of International Schools and holds a Master’s in educational leadership and management, a graduate diploma in psychology and is PhD candidate.
She will move into the principal’s residence at Kardinia International College in January, with husband Peter and five children.
“We congratulate Catherine on her appointment and the College Board looks forward to welcoming and supporting Catherine in her leadership of our College,” Mr Katsumata said.
Mrs Lockhart said she felt honoured and privileged to be able to lead the school.
“I look forward to working with the staff, students and wider community in developing students grounded in exceptional skills and wholesome values enabling them to make a difference in improving our world,” Mrs Lockhart said.
