Isuzu set to drive up sales for Rex Gorell

-

ISUZU Ute owners left in the lurch for service for most of this year will be able to get their vehicles serviced at a new Rex Gorell dealership opened yesterday.

Previously owned by Winter and Taylor, the Geelong Isuzu dealership lapsed earlier this year leaving local owners without a local dealership for service.

The Rex Gorell Group announced yesterday that it had acquired the dealership from Isuzu and was offering a full service centre from La Trobe Blvd, at the rear of the temporary Isuzu showroom in La Trobe Tce, next to Skoda and Honda.

Plans for a permanent Isuzu showroom are being developed with a view to opening it in the next 12 months.

Sales manager Craig McMennemin said offering the D-Max ute gave the Rex Gorell Group a full arsenal in the category alongside the Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger.

He said the rugged MU-X, a 4x4 wagon based on the DMax, was popular for longrange towing assignments such as outback travel.

“It’s going to bring new customers that we haven’t had in the past,” Mr McMennemin said. “It will allow us to build new relationships with those types of buyers which the Isuzu brand is very big on.”

Marketing manager Marcus Tomczak said the initial Isuzu showroom would be staffed with two salespeople but there was an intention to expand the dealership going forward. He said Isuzu Utes previously sold about 30 vehicles a month in Geelong.

“Both Isuzu Australia and our expectation is there will be a significant volume increase both at opening and ongoing.”
