Streaming star headed here
WHO knew Australia’s first amendment was the right to be supplied free plastic bags? The gnashing of teeth and flip-flopping over the on-again, off-again ban is ridiculous — from the major supermarkets and shoppers. AUSTRALIA’S most streamed female country pop artist of the year is performing in Geelong this month.
Rachael Fahim — winner of the 2017 Toyota Star-Maker competition and Country Music Channel New Artist of the Year nominee — has been dubbed Australia’s answer to Taylor Swift.
Her new single What I don’t know, written by Grammy Award winner Emily Weisband, clocked up 50,000 streams within 48 hours of its release in recent weeks.
The powerful sing-a-long anthem pushes the boundaries to see country-rock and pop music combine and appeal to a mainstream audience.
Over the past three years, Fahim has performed in more than 250 live shows.
Her single Brake Lights remained on the country charts for a staggering 19 weeks.
Now, Fahim is embarking on an 18-date Australia-wide tour, joined by a host of special guests — including Geelong's own Taylor Henderson, who will feature in five shows.
Unfortunately one of those isn’t the Geelong gig at Gateway Hotel on Friday, August 24, but fans can look forward to seeing country music’s sister trio The McClymonts instead.
Other artists featured on the national tour, which kicked off in Tamworth last month, are Brad Cox, James Blundell and Casey Barnes.
Tickets for the show, $44.90 for general admission, available at thegatewayhotel.com.au
