Options divide residents

- Geelong council received $4.7 million from the TAC to create two cycling connections into the city centre, with four options for the cycling-led upgrade of Belmont’s High St released

Will this be like the Highton Village upgrade. All these options and then nothing happens? Chris

Great initiative! Creating a visible safe cycling passage will encourage more people to consider riding a bike as a viable mode of transport. Less road congestion, less parking spaces required, healthy community. Sam

None of these options really provide a solution. Traders, cyclists and the community don’t want it in High St. Develop a different route. David

Give the two people who ride down High St a new car and put the remaining $4.6 million to better use Luke Mulder

Some people are still living in the ’70s! That’s what’s kept Geelong in the dark for so long. Our population and traffic has increased dramatically since then and will continue to whether we like it or not. Barton

Where on earth are they going to put two pedestrian crossings? And why? Narelle Bugg

If Malop St is any indication, then don’t touch High St. Ashley Barr

It’s a waste of bloody time. I have yet to see one bike go through town in the new upgrade part. Chantell Gardner

I believe the bike path should go up Francis St. Less gradient for cyclists. High St is for shoppers. I’m sure this would be a cheaper option. Sean Blood

We should all ride bikes and be healthier. Anke Grabosch-Meehan

Love this, we need more save cycle path in Geelong. This is fabulous. Adrian Schonfelder

High St is bedlam as it is. It doesn’t need to be any more chaotic. Less bike tracks, more spent on fixing the existing roads would be good. Tamiko Chook
