In strong win over Bell Post Hill
Geelong out-scored Inverleigh 23 to 13 in the second half to run out 10-goal winners.
Stephanie Boyce and Tahlia Billows were once again matchwinners in defence for East, with numerous intercepts and rebounds.
Claudia Cook and Nikki Everist, with strong drives through centre court, gave plenty of ball to goalers Shannon Pietsch and Emily Rankin — who took full advantage, shooting 32 and 11 goals respectively.
Best players for Inverleigh were Carling Southall, Vanessa Finley-McDonald (27 goals) and Elise Lever. WINCHELSEA applied consistent pressure and took early control against North Geelong.
North continued to surge, keeping scoreboard pressure on all game. Kierlie Shepherd and Steph Hillman partnered brilliantly in defence, creating endless opportunities for the attack. Eliza Cole (34 goals) was strong and patient as the dominant shooter against a tough and relentless North defence. Casey Carroll was damaging in WA and set the attacking third up with strong drives and extraordinary vision into the shooters.
North’s best players were Ashlee Cadee, Shae Rowbottom and Brittany Chapman. THE Giants dug deep when needed to stay in control of the game. Prue Sanders was strong in defence, swallowing rebounds at every opportunity. Kristie Marsh and Marlese Primmer’s combination was nice to watch, while Naomi Maaka shot well with 40-plus goals.
