DeGois back for Coutas

- ALEX OATES

QUEENSCLIFF f orward Daniel DeGois has been declared a certain starter for Sunday’s elimination final against Geelong Amateur.

Coutas coach Steve Clark confirmed DeGois would return to the line-up, having missed the final match of the home-and-away season through injury.

“DeGois will come back in, but who he comes in for, we haven’t worked that out yet,” Clark said.

“We’ll go through that at training and there’s a few others putting their hands up. (Ben) Carmichael has come back and there’s some guys who have had some consistent form at 12 o’clock (reserves).

“But the boys that have been playing have been in good form for a fair amount of time, so I don’t think there’ll be too much change.”

While Ammos co-coaches Rowan McSparron and Jarrod Young try to find room for key-position player Hamish Shepheard — a five-point player — Queenscliff will have no such problems squeezing DeGois into the line-up.

Clark said he would only need to replace DeGois with a fellow one-point player, making life a touch easier at selection.

Ammos may need to free up seven points on the list, with Josh Westwood and Kane Smith potentially available for selection.

“We’ll probably get a look at that on Saturday when their 12 o’clock boys play,” Clark said.

“That might give us an idea of who’s in and who’s out. But knowing what the point system is like, they just have to decide on which combination is best to go in with against us.”
