Liana’s lip service

-

LIANA Purser has had a tumultuous year, simultaneously facing her first pregnancy and chemotherapy after a breast cancer diagnosis.

Ms Purser’s positivity and trust in her medical team has seen her go through surgery, chemotherapy, a double mastectomy and the delivery of her healthy baby, Rose, now six months.

Now the East Geelong nurse is seeking to support other women as an ambassador for Australian not-for-profit health hub Pink Hope.

The organisation provides education and support for women at risk of breast and ovarian cancer, something important to Ms Purser, who initially faced a lot of uncertainty about carrying her baby and receiving treatment at the same time.

“The type of breast cancer I had is a bit more aggressive and a bit more rare — if I’d left it untreated for nine months, then my chance of survival would have decreased a lot,” she said.

Ms Purser has been selected as one of five ambassadors for the latest Pink Hope campaign before its Bright Pink Lipstick Day on September 21.

Seen by the foundation on social media, she was chosen to be the face of its Bold shade of lipstick, bright scarlet in colour.

“The idea is that you go to work or wherever wearing the lippy and people say, ‘Oh, I like your lippy’ and you say why you’re wearing it, so it’s to get people talking about it,” she said. Read ead Liana’s story in gt magazine, insi inside
