Baddies come to grief on city’s streets

- HARRISON TIPPET

A WILD car chase will wind its way through Geelong’s CBD this week as filming for a $40 million movie comes to town.

A major car chase for the Chinese-Australian production The Whistleblower will be filmed across today, tomorrow and Thursday, shutting down some roads in Geelong.

Filming will then return to the city between September 17 and September 24.

Filming will take place on Gheringhap, Brougham and Yarra streets today, then Yarra and Corio streets tomorrow and Brougham and Moorabool streets on Thursday.

A description of the scene has lead actors entering a car in front of Costa Hall on Gheringhap St, with the chase starting on Corio St.

“They cross over Bellerine St with the ‘bad guys’ chasing them the entire way. The chase then turns left into Swanston St,” a description of the chase reads. “One of the ‘bad guys’ crash. “They then turn left on to Eastern Beach Rd and speed back down towards Bellerine St.

“They continue onto Eastern Beach Road in front of Transvaal Square. A ‘bad guy’ crashes on the corner of Moorabool St. “They still have one ‘bad guy’ chasing them. “They stop at a red light on Brougham St. “The last ‘bad guy’ continues through the red light and is hit by a bus. “They then turn left and hide in the car park.” Police will oversee filming, which includes an armourer overseeing the use of weapons during the shoot.
