IF you are a diehard tracky lover, Friday may be the only day of the year it is acceptable to “dack-up” in public.

Enjoy a day in Australia’s chosen pants of comfort while supporting and raising funds on the annual TLC for Kids Tracky Dack Day.

One local group planning to ditch the slacks and don the dacks is the Torquay Lions Club.

Club vice-president Brian Keane said the club was thrilled to be able to support such a cause.

“Tracky Dack Day was started by TLC for Kids and is a fun and easy way to help sick children and their famil- ies when they need it most,” Mr Keane said.

“It is an act of solidarity with hospitalised children, who are encouraged to change into trackies to lift their mood and create a more normal day-to-day routine.

“Our prime position will be at Bunnings Torquay running a sausage sizzle for the kid’s charity, a cause our Lions Club unanimously chose to support.”

TLC for Kids provides support to children in hospital. It was established in 1998 after founder Tim Conolan noticed a gap in services for sick and injured children that saw them missing out on muchneeded support.

“For kids in hospital, maintaining a sense of normality is vital and as such, they’re often encouraged to wear trackies around the ward,” Mr Conolan said.

“Australians have really championed this fantastic campaign.

“We’ve seen everyone from CEOs to tradies taking part.”
