Lorri an inspiration for women
YOU would not believe how old high-kicking Lorri Eastgate was — even if she told you herself.
The 80-year-old is proof that age should not hold you back from leading a fit and healthy life.
Ms Eastgate joined Drysdale women’s gym Curves seven years ago, and has since completed more than 1400 workouts, with a biological age test putting her at 74½ years old.
“Fitness has always been something that has been very important to me, even from a young age,” she said. “I certainly don’t feel my age, though I’m quite proud of it.”
Ms Eastgate said it was not only the health benefits that made her love exercising, but also the companionship.
According to Curves owner Andrea Keating, Ms Eastgate is not the oldest client.
“It’s important for women of any age to look after their health and wellness, not just as they get older,” Ms Keating said.
“You can’t put a price on women’s health, it needs to be a priority.”
Curves Drysdale is promoting its importance with a special program for Women’s Health Week. The gym has partnered with health professionals to offer information and guidance.
Participation requires a gold coin donation to the Drysdale Foodbank, which has been struggling to maintain stock to support a growing number of at-risk families.
