ALLEGED DRUG DEALER GETS BAIL

- OLIVIA SHYING

A COLAC man who was allegedly caught with two bags of ice was granted bail so he could care for his pregnant partner and young children.

Jayden Williamson, 25, appeared before Geelong Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with drug trafficking, possession and drug use offences.

Prosecutor Leading Senior-Constable Kerrie Moroney told the court Mr Williamson was arrested outside a Colac property on September 5.

Police visited the property with a search warrant when officers saw Mr Williamson trying to drive away.

Police apprehended Mr Williamson, seized his mobile phone and allegedly found two small zip-lock bags containing a white crystal substance.

Officers allege a high number of calls, seemingly drug related, were made to Mr Williamson’s phone after his arrest including a message that read: “One say half or seven”.

Sen-Constable Moroney said police executed warrants at Mr Williamson’s address and took him to Colac police station, where he refused to give officers his phone passcode.

In applying for bail, Mr Williamson’s lawyer said his client denied he was involved in drug trafficking and said the text message read in court was referring to a time period.

Mr Williamson’s partner told the court the accused needed to be granted bail so he could look after her and the couple’s two young children.

Magistrate John Lesser granted Mr Williamson bail with strict conditions and ordered him to appear at Colac Magistrates’ Court on October 8.
