Room safer for non-users

Geelong Mayor Bruce Harwood has opened the door to establishi­ng a safe injecting room in the city.

OK people with a drug problem will use no matter what you say, so where would you like the dirty syringes left? In public areas so we can accidental­ly step on them, or in a controlled environmen­t? Until someone close to you is on drugs your attitude won’t change. Andrew Caruana

Maybe they need help to get into rehab, not for safe injecting rooms to keep them addicted. That’s just stupid. There’s enough druggies around without having injecting rooms. Jade Harrower

To put it simply, a person looking for that hit will always find a way to buy it and use even if is illegal. By doing this it allows them to be in a place where it’s not harming others and the disposal of syringes is cleaner as they have a place to put them instead of the ground or other places non-users find.
