Plans for childcare and housing at Bell Post Hill
PLANS to develop vacant land at Bell Post Hill into a precinct including housing, a cafe and a childcare centre have been revealed.
The development would be at Rollins Rd, and include the “development and use of a childcare centre, display of advertising signage, development and use of a food and drink premises” and the “development of nine dwellings,” plans show. The planning application, lodged with the City of Greater Geelong, says the development would be on land that is currently vacant.
An artist’s impression lodged with council reveals plans for a childcare centre including several rooms as well as an administration area, kitchen, bathroom facilities and a pantry. There are also plans for nine homes on a site next to the childcare centre.
“The childcare centre is proposed to operate with 123 children between 7am-7pm Monday to Friday, while the food and drink premises is proposed to operate between 7am-5pm Monday to Saturday,” the planning report says.
A carpark comprising 31 spaces, with 27 for the childcare centre and four associated with the cafe, is also included in the plans.
“The site forms part of a larger subdivision that is currently under construction and which will create 36 residen- tially-zoned lots and a public reserve. The proposal is contained within Lots 35 and 36 at the southern end of the property,” it says.
One of the planned homes would have three bedrooms and a double garage, while the remainder would have two bedrooms and a single garage.
The application estimates the development to cost between $1 million and $5 million. Public comment on the planning application is open until September 22.
