These cubs are leaders of Grey Wolf pack

-

MEET Victoria’s leading young wolf pack.

These five Norlane West cub scouts have reached the pinnacle of their section, achieving the globally recognised Grey Wolf Award.

The 10 and 11-year-olds came together last night when twins Brock and Kye Pulham were awarded the honour.

They joined Jenna Brian, Renee Brown and Alana Gamero in receiving the badge.

Group leader Kim Brian said it was rare to have five cub scouts in the same year reach the top tier.

“It takes them a long time, and there is a lot of hard work,” Ms Brian said, estimating one cub had put in about 250 hours of effort.

“But we have high expectations of them and what they can achieve.”

The Grey Wolf honour requires the cub scout to develop a range of outdoor, survival, health, leadership, initiative and specialist skills.

Fewer than 10 per cent of participants qualify for the award.

With five of its 12 cub scouts earning the distinction, Norlane West has the highest percentage of recipients in the state.

The Norlane West chapter resumed its group this year after a number of interested young families moved into the northern suburbs.

With corporate support and volunteer toil, it has been renovating its building in Donnybrook Rd.
