Help me see my Maggies, Eddie

- CHAD VAN ESTROP

LIFELONG Collingwood fanatic Simone Stevens has missed out on tickets to the Pies’ past four grand finals.

She’s desperate to be at the MCG on Saturday, and has issued a plea to Pies president Eddie McGuire after losing out on a ticket in the club’s members ballot.

“In my heart of hearts I’m shattered,” Ms Stevens said.

“Having a disability, it’s sort of a disadvantage. I’m use to disappointment because I need an extra ticket for a carer. The second seat is always the killer.

“There’s lots of people I know (who have missed out) but I’ve been a fanatical supporter all my life and I’ve never seen a grand final (live); this is all my hopes and dreams.

“To see one in my lifetime, just one, would be amazing.”

The five-year member really hopes the Pies’ president can help.

“There’s nothing I want more but I’m thinking what more can I do.

“Eddie, I have loved you for the whole time you’ve been at Collingwood and I would do anything for a ticket.”

Through the disappointment, Ms Stevens’s support for the club — that her dad played for in the early ’70s — hasn’t wavered.

The 40-year-old Thomson resident, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, will be on the train to Melbourne about 7.30am today to get the best
