TRACK FOR GROWTH

Melbourne,” Mr Ainsworth said.

He said the area between Pakington St and La Trobe Terrace didn’t used to be looked upon as the best part of Geelong West but it had certainly caught up because people liked to be close to the train station.

Mr Ainsworth is taking a property in this location, 9 Preston St, to auction on October 13 at 12.30pm with price hopes of $590,000$640,000.

Vendor Stephanie Broad said she and her husband chose that location because it was close to the train station.

“My husband commutes to Melbourne every day for work in the CBD and he can walk to the station,” Mrs Broad said.

However with two kids and a third on the way the couple decided it was time to upsize.

Aand because they loved the location they have bought a bigger house only two streets away.

The house they are selling has three bedrooms and has been renovated since they bought it in 2010 for $365,000, according to CoreLogic.

The central Geelong West location is not the only spot for property to benefit from a train station.

Northern Geelong suburbs including Norlane, Corio, North Geelong and Lara all benefit from a train station, likewise South Geelong, Marshall, Grovedale and Waurn Ponds.

Buxton agent Tony Moorfoot said it was definitely a bonus and added value to a property having a train station close by.

“Since Waurn Ponds opened in 2014 it’s been a massive bonus for the people out there,” Mr Moorfoot said.

“Heaps of people from Melbourne are coming down and they can have the lifestyle and jump on the train and not have to worry about driving and parking.”
