Buses, trains to run later on White Night

- RUSTY WOODGER

EXTRA train and bus services will be scheduled for Geelong’s inaugural White Night next weekend.

Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan announced yesterday more V/Line train and bus services would be supported by a special network of city bus routes, in a bid to encourage people to leave their cars at home.

The event runs from 7pm next Saturday until 2am on Sunday. It will showcase a series of attractions in the city’s streets including lighting, installations, exhibitions, film, music and dance.

Between 6pm and 3am, express buses will run every 15 minutes to the Moorabool St bus hub from Leisurelink (Waurn Ponds) and Bunnings in North Geelong and Leopold.

Regional residents will also have access to the event with buses running from Lorne (via Anglesea) and Colac (via Winchelsea).

Extra V/Line trains from Geelong to Melbourne have been scheduled for 11.32pm and 12.17am, with additional bus services running on the hour between 1am and 3am.

Buses will also run to Waurn Ponds via South Geelong and Marshall at 2am and 3am.

Ms Allan said she hoped the extra services would enable people to enjoy the event for longer.

“It’s time to shine the light on Geelong, and we’ll run extra transport services to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy this special night,” she said.
