A FAMILY who allegedly assaulted police officers during a violent affray at a Queensclif­f hotel have faced court.

Glenn Main, 59, his son 21-year-old Harry Main and nephew Joel Main, also 21, fronted Geelong Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday charged with a combined 16 offences.

Glenn Main’s partner Annmarie Reid also faced court over the same matter.

The four arrived at court together, all dressed in black, the men sporting the same style ties and tie pins for the hearing.

A FAMILY who allegedly assaulted police officers during a violent affray at a Queensclif­f hotel have faced court.

Glenn Main, 59, his 21-yearold son Harry Main and nephew Joel Main, also 21, fronted Geelong Magistrate­s’ Court yesterday charged with a combined 16 offences.

Glenn Main’s partner Annmarie Reid also fronted court over the same matter.

The four arrived at court together, all dressed in black, and were represente­d by the same lawyer.

They were supported by family and friends during their brief appearance. They did not speak throughout the proceeding­s.

Their court date came after police were called to the Queensclif­f Brewhouse in Gellibrand St soon after 10pm on August 26 to help security in removing several drunk patrons.

The two officers were allegedly set on by two men and several pub-goers and police responded with capsicum spray.

Police arrested seven people and the next day charged a 21- year-old year ld Queensclif­f man.

Days later police charged three men. Charge sheets obtained by the Geelong Advertiser indicate Glenn, Joel and Harry Main have been charged with assault and intentiona­lly causing injury offences.

The documents reveal Harry Main had been charged with two counts of assault an emergency worker, one count of intentiona­lly cause injury to a police officer, one count of causing reckless injury to a police officer, one count of being drunk in a public place and one count of committing an affray using unlawful violence.

Joel Main has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of causing reckless injury to two senior constables and one charge of committing an affray using i unn lawful violence.

Glenn Main has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker, resisting an emergency worker, two counts of intentiona­lly causing injury to a senior constable and committing an affray using unlawful violence.

Glenn Main’s partner Annmarie Reid also fronted court charged with similar offences.

The document indicates two senior constables were injured during the alleged assault on August 25. The Geelong Advertiser has been told one of the officers is yet to return to work.

The alleged offenders appeared in court for a mention yesterday and were ordered by Magistrate Paul Smith to return to court on November 27 for a contest mention.
