Deadline for application into SEAS
VCE students have until 5pm on Friday to apply for the Special Entry Access Scheme.
The scheme can help students in a variety of situations, including those who live in rural areas.
“All Year 12 students should automatically select Category 1 of the SEAS application — if they are eligible under any of these categories, adjustments will automatically be applied,” a Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre spokeswoman said.
“If there have been circumstances that have made it hard for students to reach their full potential, they should consider putting in an application via VTAC’s Special Entry Access Scheme.
“SEAS is designed to make sure institutions get a sense of your full potential and it enables institutions to consider the circumstances you have experienced (outside of your control) and their impact upon your studies when making selection decisions.”
The spokeswoman said “SEAS also allows institutions to identify applicants from under-represented groups when making selection decisions for some courses”.
To be eligible, you must have: AUSTRALIAN or New Zealand citizenship; a permanent Australian residency visa; or, AN eligible temporary, bridging or safe haven enterprise visa or an Australian Year 12 applicant.
“Additionally, you need to have applied for a course through VTAC and met the course and institutional requirements. SEAS only becomes available once you have lodged a course application,” the spokeswoman said.
“Most international Australian Year 12 applicants are not eligible and are encouraged to contact institutions directly to see if other entry and access programs are available.
“However, asylum seekers on certain visa subclasses can apply for SEAS.”
The are four categories in the SEAS, and the spokeswoman said “applicants can apply for all the categories that are relevant, so long as there is a different reason for each category”.
