WILL OUR PADDY WIN A ROSE?
MEET GEELONG’S NEW BACHELORETTE HOPEFUL
GEELONG gym manager Paddy Colliar is hoping to find love with Bachelorette Ali Oetjen.
The 27-year-old is one of the men fighting to win Oetjen’s heart on the new season of Ten’s popular reality series.
The self-described alpha male is shaping as one of the season’s big personalities, featuring prominently in several previews.
Footage shows Colliar at the centre of a confrontation over a broken “bro code”, questioning the intentions of other men, and part of a group date challenge that appears to result in a scuffle.
The personal trainer said he hoped his outgoing personality was not taken the wrong way by Oetjen.
“I’m a very confident person, which doesn’t always make for the best first impression, but once you get to know me I do have really strong core values,” he said.
Colliar, who has plans for a family firmly in his future, said his two past serious relationships were a learning curve but the timing was now right to settle down.
“Over the years I have made mistakes, but it’s how you come back from those mistakes and learn from the mistakes that show exactly what kind of person you are,” he said.
“Everything I have learnt along the way I have really soaked up and taken on board with me, and it has really had an effect on the person I am today and want to be in the future.”
In his eyes, the perfect woman is someone adventurous who can match his “work hard, play hard” approach to life.
“I like a girl who’s driven in life, motivated, outgoing, loves to let her hair down and not take life too seriously,” Colliar said.
“Love a bit of cheekiness and banter to match me, and a woman who can keep me on my toes.”
When it comes to getting one-on-one time with Oetjen, his ideal date is anything where the conversation and red wine is flowing.
“I like to show my passion through a game of soccer, so if she is up for a kick, that’s a big tick for me,” he said.
Colliar said the opinion of family and friends on his potential flame could be a deal breaker.
“Family is absolutely huge to me, so she has to be family orientated … my sister is an aspiring singer and I count myself as her No. 1 fan,” he said.
“My friends are a big part of my life, so I would hope the right girl for me fits in well with my social circle.”
Oetjen, no stranger to the dating series, is hoping to make it third lucky after having her heartbroken on by Tim Robards on the first season of The Bachelor in 2013, and more recently on the first Australian Bachelor in Paradise series this year.
The new season of The Bachelorette premieres on Wednesday on Channel 10.
