PADDY LOBBIES FOR ALI’S HEART

- JEMMA RYAN

GEELONG personal trainer Paddy Colliar traded dumbbells for a bellboy uniform in last night’s episode of The Bachelorette.

The 27-year-old starred in a New York themed photo shoot that will feature on the cover of a new Mills and Boon romance novel.

Colliar, who has cemented his place as one of the series’ big personalities, was forced to take a back seat in the spring break inspired scene while fellow contestant Robert played Ali Oetjen’s husband.

“Ali and I have unbelievable banter. I am not too bothered. No one here can pull off a cheeky bellboy but me,” he said.

Not content with being the third wheel, the gym manager’s attempts to make his presence felt by fixating on, and flattering, the blonde beauty, failed to have the desired affect.

“I feel like I am on show. I knew Paddy was looking at me but I didn’t know what part of me he was looking at,” Oetjen said. “It really felt like it was Robert and I and everything else disappeared.”

Outspoken Colliar was still reeling from Ali’s decision to give the first impression rose, which enables the man to steal a date from another, to someone other than him.

“The wild rose should have been mine for sure. Bill has got nothing on me because let’s be honest I am a delicious-looking lad who Ali can’t get enough of,” he said.

After being overlooked once more for the first single date — a game of Twister suspended from a platform 61m above street level — Colliar was praying for a disaster.

“Hopefully the car breaks down so he doesn’t even make it to the date and Ali picks up the phone and says ‘where’s Paddy?’,” he said.

“Hopefully his hair gets messed up, his face gets messed up. I am in it to win it.”

Despite his lack of oneon-one time, Colliar received a rose and previews of what’s to come suggest he is not done ruffling feathers in the mansion yet.

Footage shows him questioning the intentions of other men, and part of a group date challenge that appears to result in a scuffle.

The Bachelorette returns next Wednesday, 7.30pm, on Channel 10.
