What killed Noah?

Community rallies to family’s support amid riddle over toddler tragedy

GRIEVING parents Jacqui and Matt Kelley are still waiting to find out what caused the sudden death of their twoyear-old son Noah.

The adoring parents put their Wiggles-loving boy to bed about 8.30pm on September 9 and when they went to wake him for childcare the next morning he had died in his sleep.

Ms Kelley, who is pregnant with a daughter due in March, said that after a month, the cause of Noah’s death was still yet to be revealed.

“We are still awaiting the coroner’s report to try shed some light on what may have caused our little man, who was full of life, to be taken from us,” she said.

“We’re not coping the best, but are overwhelmed by how far his story has reached. We are not surprised, given who he is and how loved and adored he is.”

A Go Fund Me page established by a friend to help relieve the financial pressure of funeral costs and time off work — which for self-employed Mr Kelley is unpaid — has raised more than $42,000.

“We are overwhelmed by all the love and support from far and wide and are grateful to everyone, including those who have been through similar to what we are going through that have reached out and made contact,” Ms Kelley said.

The Mount Duneed community will host an event to support the family, at Armstrong District Park next week.

Organiser Nicola Watson said the event was about fostering a sense of community spirit.

“We wanted to show Jacqui and Matt that everyone is behind them … and they want to see families with their kids enjoying their time together and focusing on what’s important,” Ms Watson said.

The event, named A Day for Noah, is open to all families and will include a barbecue, activities and entertainment. It will be held on Saturday, October 27, from 11am-2pm. Sponsorship and donation inquiries to nicolaamyb@gmail.com
